One bus, four generations, still counting

In 1968 Paul and Anna Rill bought a single school bus to carry Carroll County children to class. Sixteen years later they added a motorcoach, and people began asking where else it could go. Today the family runs more than forty school buses and a fleet of deluxe MCI coaches — and the office still answers its own phone.

We travel throughout the United States and Canada, we meet every U.S. DOT regulation for passenger vehicles, and we hold the highest safety rating the department issues.

Twenty-seven routes, every school day

Rill's carries students for Carroll County Public Schools and is a pre-approved transportation vendor for districts across the region. We also handle athletics, field trips, band and choir travel, daycares, summer programmes, shuttles and airport transfers.

Every driver is extensively trained before the first route and keeps training long after — and ADA-accessible school buses are available whenever you need one.

What our travellers say

Notes from people who ride with us, most of them more than once a year.

Come ride with Rill's! You won't want to go with any other. I have been on many trips with them, have never been disappointed, and am always treated like family.

BettySykesville, Maryland

We've taken at least five of their long trips across country, eighteen to twenty-four days, and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. Rill's makes your travel so simple.

Jamie & EdieManchester, Maryland

Thank you for going the extra mile to make sure that we are all OK and having a good time. Twenty-five days of total bliss, full of memories to treasure for years to come.

Questions we're asked most

If yours isn't here, call the office and ask. Someone who knows the answer will pick up.

Do I need a group to join a tour?+

No. Our retail tours are sold seat by seat, to individuals and small groups alike. Plenty of people travel with us on their own the first time and bring a friend the next.

Where do I park, and where does the bus leave from?+

All retail tours start in Westminster, and depending on the destination we may add stops in Reisterstown, Taylorsville, Mt. Airy or Littlestown, Pennsylvania. Parking is free at every pickup point — but please don't park at our office on Dutrow Road, as there's no room for tour cars.

What does a tour price include?+

It depends on the trip. Day tours usually cover transportation, admissions and a meal; multi-day tours add hotels and most meals. Every tour is fully escorted, so someone from Rill's is with you the entire way.

Can you take a wheelchair?+

Yes. One of our motorcoaches is wheelchair accessible, and ADA-accessible school buses are available on request. Let the office know when you book so we can put the right vehicle on your trip.

How far will you drive a chartered group?+

Anywhere in the United States and Canada. We've run trips from single afternoons to twenty-five-day cross-country tours, and we're happy to plan the itinerary rather than just drive it.

How do I hear about new tours?+

Ask the office to add you to the mailing list and we'll post you the current tour booklet along with updates as new trips are announced.
